Lets start talking about digital storytelling – as that’s our passion.

We have grown up with stories and as adults stories can still draw us in – tv or a movie are prime examples.  How many times to you become an avid watcher of a TV series and can’t wait for the next episode.  The series may be so popular that all your friends and family are talking about it.   Stories create power and a sense of magic about the real world. Stories can show us about life, about ourselves and about others. Storytelling is a unique way for all of us to develop an understanding about the world around us.

At Aha eStudio we believe in the power of a story.  A story that takes real life experiences and weaves it into a digital learning experience.

Why is storytelling in adult learning effective?

If used right digital storytelling is:

• “Believable, rememberable, and entertaining” (Neuhauser 1993).
• Interactive.  We become involved in the story – we can see the situation and have probably been in that position.  It therefore brings meaning to the information being provided.
• Visual – we can see how we could have done something differently?
• A pathway to personal growth and change.  As we identify with the person described we can see how we can change.
• Gives us the human experience – it isn’t just words on screen – it is a visual believable story.
